4. Visualize-When Alex was eating the food, stuffing it into his face, I could really visualize all of the food sitting on a table as Alex ate handfuls at a time. It’s really important and heart-warming because many people probably thought that his father didn’t survive, but as everyone who read it saw, he eventually did come back. (160/3).
6. Summarize-In this section, Alex learns that he can have fun without being caught, but he also discovers that he has to say goodbye to some good friends that he’s made throughout his survival. As he continues to try to survive, he has help from many different people and he ends up getting the doctor in trouble on the way. In the end, it’s a happy story because his dad comes back to find him, and everyone ends up feeling relieved.
Lou Lee, I think that the book is called “The Island on Bird Street” because of the street that Alex lives on for the duration of his stay, but also because while he’s trying to survive he feels like he’s on an island. He’s away from people for a majority of the time, so much of it probably felt like he was on a deserted island on his own.
